Session 1: Capital Access Disparities

Differences in access to external capital have become even more disparate in the wake of the covid pandemic. Companies with access to venture capital have rarely seen a more robust funding environment. In contrast, as government support programs wind down, many “main street” businesses are struggling to access financial resources needed to survive. Many of these businesses are local employers and service providers important for long-term economic resilience. This session unpacks the forces creating the haves and have nots and explores potential policy remedies.

The rapid pace of technological innovations in healthcare is ushering a new era of wellness and medical treatments. Emerging technologies such as AI diagnosis and drug discovery, robotic surgery, remote patient care, and genomics have transformed healthcare solutions, whereas other general-purpose technologies in information technology, telecommunications, and 3D printing have enabled healthcare providers to reimagine their workflow. Session 4: Human Capital: Entrepreneurial Teams and Talent

The quest for talent at firms in entrepreneurial settings has become increasingly critical and challenging. Leaders in entrepreneurial settings are routinely contending with the destabilizing forces of technological innovation, competition, and industry disruption. Moreover, with certain sectors rapidly expanding in a remote work environment and a renewed focus on diversity, many leaders have been forced to manage distributed teams and hire people they have never met in person. How will they do all this successfully? What will be the effects of the current environment on team and co-founder dynamics, talent acquisition? More broadly, what is the evolving role of human capital in growth, innovation and effective opportunity capture?
