David is a Managing Director on Hamilton Lane’s Direct Equity Investment team and co-leads the firms Impact and Targeted Investing activities.  He is also a member of the firm’s Investment Committee and Responsible Investment Committee. David focuses on both direct equity and direct credit investments within a variety of sectors and strategic areas across Hamilton Lane’s investment products. In fulfilling these duties, he has served as Board Member, Board Observer, and Advisory Board representative for multiple direct company and fund investments across Hamilton Lane’s products and client base. His experience includes fund management and oversight, as well as sourcing, structuring and underwriting of debt and equity investments with financial sponsors and corporations on behalf of institutional clients.

Prior to joining Hamilton Lane in 2004, Mr. Helgerson was a corporate investment banker in the Financial Institutions Group of Morgan Stanley in New York, focusing on advising and executing mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance transactions. Previously, David worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group of Credit Suisse First Boston in New York. Dave also served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy.

David received an M.B.A. from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a B.A. in Political Science from Swarthmore College.

Kimberly Evans, is an Executive Vice President at Northern Trust.  She has been appointed the Head of Corporate Sustainability, Inclusion and Social Impact for the firm.  Prior to this role, she served as the North America Head of Private Capital Fund Services and previously led the Governmental, Sovereign Wealth, and Taft Hartley/Union pension and treasury business, in the US, Central and South America. 

In addition to her direct business responsibilities, Kim also has a track record for deep engagement in organizational initiatives that holistically drive the organization forward.  This includes recently leading a major organizational alignment project, the operations and technology engagement program, and currently serving as the President of the Women In Leadership Business Resource Council  (WIL BRC) at Northern Trust, which she led to become a nationally recognized and award-winning employee resource group.

With over 25 years of experience, Kim has become a business transformation expert.  Kim has developed, led, and executed business and change strategies for five financial services organizations, managed teams in six countries, and has implemented technical and organizational programs that have impacted over 27,000 financial services professionals throughout her career.  She has also owned and operated businesses as an independent consultant and as a franchise owner.   Kim’s core expertise includes creating and executing business strategy, developing and maximizing talent, and ultimately driving change and transformation to make organizations competitive, effective and productive.  Kim is highly sought after for speaking engagements in the financial services industry, on topics such as ESG and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and within the philanthropic community.  Regardless of the environment, Kim’s professional achievements, personal will to overcome and track record of paying it forward inspires and motivates audiences to act.

Kim graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and has earned numerous business, leadership, and technical certifications throughout her career.

Kim has been named a 2021 Finalist for Women In Finance by Markets Media, 2021 Leader That Can, one of the 50 Leading Women in the 2020 Hedge Fund Journal,  a Chicago United 2019 Business Leader of Color Honoree, a Leading Women’s Executive Alumni, and a three-time Chairman’s Award recipient.  She was also recognized as a Leader in Philanthropy by the University of Chicago and currently serves on the board of the Chicago Public Education Fund (The Fund) which targets the development of principals within Chicago Public Schools (CPS).  She is a distinctive member of C200, a powerful community of successful business women and the Economic Club of Chicago.

Jeff Cohen has management responsibility for the incorporation of environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters within the firm’s investment processes as well as other sustainability initiatives at the firm. Mr. Cohen is a member of OHA’s ESG committee, risk committee and a member of OHA’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council. He is also a member of the Loan Syndications & Trading Association (LSTA) ESG Advisory Board.  Prior to joining OHA, he was the Director of Capital Markets Integration and Head of Private Investments Initiatives at the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board Foundation (SASB). In this capacity, Mr. Cohen advised alternative investors on the development and integration of ESG factors into various phases of the investment process. He started his career in the Global Markets division at Deutsche Bank. Mr. Cohen earned an M.B.A. from the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business and a B.B.A from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. Additionally, he has earned the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation and is a Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting Credential holder.

Cori provides technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware and software for the institute’s staff.

Prior to coming to the institute, he was a desktop support specialist at IXL Learning, an education tech company. He has experience working in IT, public safety (law enforcement and fire emergency services), and he currently serves in the Navy Reserves.

Cori is a former varsity football player who graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies.

Ursula Mead is the founder and CEO of Durham, North Carolina-based InHerSight, a data-driven anonymous platform to measure how well companies support female employees.

U.S. Army veteran with extensive background in leadership, operations management and healthcare administration, with strong emphasis in the areas of hospital administration, rural health, strategic planning, corporate communications, public affairs and media relations. Skilled in equal employment opportunity and diversity management; and mediating work place disputes. Career experiences include the Military (U.S Army), Higher Education (GA Institute of Technology), and the Federal Government (Veterans Affairs).

Christine A. Parlour is the Sylvan C. Coleman Chair of Finance and Accounting at Berkeley Haas. Most of her work is in institutionally complex areas, such as market microstructure and banking. Her current work focuses on changes in the payments system and the effects on bank balance sheets. She has written for major finance and economics journals. She has been on the Nasdaq Economic Advisory Board and is currently on the steering committee for the New Special Study of Securities Markets.

Michael Coscetta is the Head of Revenue at Paxos. He was most recently the Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer at Compass, a position he held since October 2018. There he was responsible for creating sales, development and growth strategies for the organization while overseeing strategic partnerships, new development, marketplace products, and lending partnerships. He also led the strategic initiative around building the first end-to-end real estate transaction platform.

Prior to Compass, he was Global Head of Sales at Square from early 2016 to end of 2018. In this role, he was responsible for scaling the domestic SMB sales teams into a complex global sales organization covering SMB, mid-market, and enterprise. He was also supervising the sales development, operations, strategy, and partnerships teams.  Formerly, he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing at StructuredWeb from 2013 to 2016. There, they were a leading channel marketing automation software, servicing mostly enterprise customers in the tech industry. From June 2003 to August 2013, he was CEO and Founder of Dynasty Division Inc, helping tech companies build and grow their sales and marketing organizations. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Harvard University.

Joshua Barrett is the Associate Director of Research for the Center for the Business of Health. He works to grow the Center’s thought leadership through collaborative intrainstitutional and corporate partnered research. He manages research projects and generates unique and comprehensive content regarding public policies, business practices, and industry trends in healthcare.

Prior to joining UNC, Joshua worked as the Value Analysis Program Manager at Duke University Health System. He created, oversaw, and guided the new product and medical capital equipment request processes and clinical product review committees across Duke Health. Joshua has additional experience in hospital supply chain and procurement operations, health information management, and revenue management. Clinically, Joshua has worked as a registered nurse in interventional radiology and emergency medicine.

Joshua is currently a PhD student within the UNC School of Nursing, his research focuses on turnover within the nursing workforce. He has an MBA from Elon University, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences (BS) from James Madison University.

Claudia Kubowicz Malhotra’s research interests are in the area of issues in consumer behavior.  Specifically, her research focus is on service failures and service recovery strategies, consumer privacy issues, and new product marketing.

She has examined how consumers adopt and use web, mobile and social media technologies with a focus on the evolution and effectiveness of advertising in these contexts.

She received a grant from the Marketing Science Institute, and she is a member of the Association for Consumer Research and the American Marketing Association.

Her work has been published in Communications of the ACM, Journal of Service Research, Journal of Services Marketing and MIT Sloan Management Review.

She teaches courses in brand management, marketing principles and advertising.

Dr. Kubowicz Malhotra received her PhD and MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler and her BSBA from Georgetown University.
