Kenan Scholars Director Kim Allen Wins Diversity Award

Kenan Scholars Director Kim Allen is among the winners of UNC’s annual Diversity Awards, presented to individuals and groups who have given their time and effort to further diversity, equity and inclusion at the university and in its surrounding community.

Allen heads up the institute’s signature scholarship program for UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School undergraduate students. She joins Trinnette Cooper of the Gillings School of Global Public Health as an honoree in the category for staff members.

“Our 2022 Diversity Award winners have gone above and beyond to build a community here at Carolina where all of our students, faculty and staff know and feel they belong,” Chancellor Kevin M. Guskiewicz said. “Their work is critical to meeting the goals of our strategic plan and we are grateful for their dedication to making our community a better place.”

A committee of faculty, staff and students reviewed nominations for the awards, which were announced by the University Office for Diversity and Inclusion. Honorees were also named in the categories of alumni, faculty, intergroup collaboration, graduate student/professional student/post doc and undergraduate student, where the winner was UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School junior Grace Stevens.
