Eligibility
All Kenan-Flagler Business School first-year MBA students who are interested in becoming a Kenan Scholar are encouraged to apply. The application deadline has been extended to October 9, 2020.
Application Documents
Applicants must submit the following:
- Cover letter on the applicant’s interest in the Kenan Scholars Program
- Brief description of a research project previously completed (100-200 words)
- A copy of the applicant’s resume
- After reviewing the list of available research projects, identify your top three preferences. Explain your interest in those projects (100-200 words for each project).
- OPTIONAL: Applicants can propose an alternate research project (200-300 words) – see proposal template. Include an explanation of how the project aligns with the Kenan Institute’s mission and a letter of support for the project from a research-active Kenan-Flagler faculty member.
Application & Selection Timeline
MBA students who are interested in becoming a Kenan Scholar should attend the Kenan Institute’s annual welcome reception & open house this fall. Kenan Institute faculty, staff, students and returning Kenan Scholars will be present for the meet and greet.
APPLY by September 30, 2020. Selected applicants will be invited to interview with the selection committee in mid-to-late October. Final selections and offers will be made by mid-November.

You will expand your personal interests and professional talents, as well as become actively engaged in the applied research community at both the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise and Kenan-Flagler Business School.
