CHAPEL HILL, NC (June 25, 2025) – Kenan Institute Research Economist Sarah Dickerson will examine the economic effects of two pillars of current U.S. policy during the institute’s next monthly briefing, which will move to Thursday this month because of the July Fourth holiday.
Among the topics Dickerson will share her analysis on:
Tariffs: What effects have higher tariffs and tariff uncertainty had on consumer sentiment, confidence and expectations? To what extent have costs been passed on to consumers, and what about recent changes in shipping costs?
Deportations: How have recent deportations affected the share of the workforce composed of foreign-born workers? Is the construction sector losing workers and housing starts suffering as a result? (The Bureau of Labor Statistics will release its employment report for June on the same morning.)
You are invited to join via Zoom (registration details below) and are welcome to submit any questions you would like to be addressed to External Affairs Assistant Director Rob Knapp.
