CHAPEL HILL, NC (February 6, 2026) — Some of last year’s business headlines continue to dog the US economy into 2026: Consumer confidence is low, job openings continue to decline and inflation is not dropping to the Federal Reserve’s desired 2% level.
Institute Research Director Camelia Kuhnen will discuss these data points and analyze fresh payroll, unemployment and wage numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics to assess the economy’s health during the institute’s monthly economic briefing at 9 AM EST Wednesday, February 11. The briefing was rescheduled from Friday after the partial government shutdown delayed release of the BLS data until next week.
You are invited to join via Zoom (registration details below) and are welcome to submit questions you would like to hear addressed to External Affairs Assistant Director Rob Knapp.
