Dealing with Data Uncertainty: December Economic Briefing

CHAPEL HILL, NC (December 2, 2025) – With the government open for business after its longest shutdown ever, federal agencies are catching up on the backlog of data. Some reports are coming out late – November employment will be released December 16 and November inflation two days later – and others, like October inflation, won’t come out at all.

What does this mean for policy, especially as the Federal Open Market Committee meets to consider an interest rate reduction next week? And how are businesses managing the sustained high level of uncertainty? Research Fellow Greg Brown will examine these issues and take your questions during the institute’s monthly briefing at 9 AM EST Friday, December 5.

You are invited to join via Zoom and are welcome to submit any questions you would like to hear addressed. Email them to External Affairs Assistant Director Rob Knapp.
