Background

I grew up in Chapel Hill before moving to Raleigh to attend Meredith College where I majored in Business Administration and minored in Political Science. I was fortunate to hold numerous school-wide leadership positions during my time at Meredith. In addition to school, I worked for a direct marketing agency whose clients included pharmaceutical companies in the RTP area. After graduation I moved to Nashville, TN where I continued to build my healthcare experience by working in the compliance department of St. Thomas Hospital. After a year in Nashville, I moved into Italian wine sales, which enhanced both my relationship-building skills and my palate. However, I was intent on revisiting the healthcare industry so I sought out a healthcare software start-up company in Raleigh where I served as Client Relations Manager for an Electronic Medical Records product. With my interest piqued, I next joined another start-up focused on providing a mobile rounding tool, capable of providing real-time data, to hospital physicians. In my four years with Thomson Reuters, I served as an account manager and project manager for various health system software solutions.

Career Interests

The choice to come to Kenan-Flagler supports my next natural career inclination toward international exposure and using my experience with sales and services to progress in a field that has always held an interest for me — operations. While at school, I intend to expand my knowledge of global supply chains and operations in an effort to pursue a career in the airline industry. With my client-centric background, my hope is to explore opportunities in procurement, which would allow me to manage both the external and internal client relationships. I intend to take advantage of both STAR projects and Global Immersion Electives to expand my international exposure.

Interests and Hobbies

I love getting on planes to explore the world, especially if a layover in London is included. My hope is to finish visiting the 50 states in the next five years. Due to my fascination with planes, you can often find me eating lunch at the observation deck at RDU International Airport. I also enjoy walking and have participated in the 3-Day, 60 mile Susan G. Komen walk in Atlanta. My passions include my adopted hometown of Durham and its colorful history, Tar Heel Basketball, golf, and chicken biscuits.
