On Wednesday, October 28, Kenan Institute Senior Fellow and Political Quotient Advisors CEO Mary Moore Hamrick presented a virtual exploration of the political landscape ahead of the historic 2020 U.S. presidential election, discussing such topics as the candidates’ positions on key issues and how the balance of power between Democrats and Republicans will shape business. Little Named to North Carolina Black Entrepreneurship Council
Mark Little, executive director of CREATE, a Kenan Institute-affiliated center, has been named to the inaugural North Carolina Black Entrepreneurship Council (NC BEC). The council was founded by NC IDEA, a private foundation committed to supporting entrepreneurial ambition and economic empowerment in North Carolina.

Frontiers of Entrepreneurship Releases Trends Report Quarterly Update
On June 23, the Kenan Institute released its quarterly update to the Trends in Entrepreneurship Report, examining the most pressing entrepreneurial issue of 2020—the efficacy of governmental efforts to buoy businesses through the COVID-19 pandemic. The report outlines emerging trends amid and in response to the ongoing crisis in the U.S., explores the disproportionate effects of the crisis on Black-owned firms and provides a review of the pandemic’s impact on business thus far, offering actionable insights for policymakers, business leaders and entrepreneurs moving forward.
