Filling the Data Gap: November Economic Briefing

CHAPEL HILL, NC (November 4, 2025) – The government shutdown has slowed the flow of economic data out of Washington to a trickle. Kenan Institute Chief Economist Gerald Cohen will look at available indicators to fill the gap created by missing US employment statistics during the institute’s monthly briefing at 9 AM EST Friday, November 7.

Cohen will also examine the budget issues key to the shutdown as well as other current economic topics – including the importance of healthcare sector employment, evidence of a “K-shaped economy” and the question of an artificial intelligence bubble – and take your questions.

You are invited to join via Zoom (registration details below) and are welcome to submit your questions to External Affairs Assistant Director Rob Knapp.
