Daniela De la Parra

Assistant Professor of Accounting, UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School

Daniela De la Parra researches the determinants of corporate information, with an emphasis on qualitative properties of disclosures, and their implications for capital markets. She is particularly interested in applications of machine learning to accounting research.

Dr. De la Parra teaches financial accounting.

Before joining academia, Dr. De la Parra was a professional chess player for 12 years. Among her accomplishments, she holds the FIDE title of Woman International Master in chess, and she was the Absolute Female Chess Campion of Mexico in 2011.

She earned a full chess scholarship to attend the University of Texas at Brownsville.

Dr. De la Parra received her PhD from Rice University, and her BA with a double major in accounting and finance from the University of Texas at Brownsville, graduating summa cum laude.
