CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (Jan. 31, 2024) – The U.S. economy is showing signs of significant disinflation. GDP growth continues to impress. The Fed held rates steady in its meeting this week.

Are we really on track for a soft landing, and what would such an unexpected touchdown imply for the Fed’s roadmap in the near to medium term? Should we instead be wary? Join Kenan Institute Senior Faculty Fellow Christian Lundblad for the institute’s monthly virtual briefing at 9 a.m. EST this Friday, Feb. 2, when the new employment report will provide a critical update on the U.S. labor market as we work to unpack all of this.

Experts from the institute will appear on the briefing each month and offer commentary in their areas of specialization. Briefings occur on the morning that the employment report is released, usually the first Friday of each month.

You’re invited to join via Zoom (registration details below) and welcome to submit any questions you would like to be addressed to rob_knapp@kenan-flagler.unc.edu.
