CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Last month’s jobs report surprised experts with news that the U.S. economy had gained 528,000 jobs in July. Now the Bureau of Labor Statistics is preparing to release its employment numbers for August, and the Kenan Institute’s economic briefing will return with nearly instant analysis at 9 a.m. EDT this Friday, Sept. 2.
The Fed is threading a shrinking needle in its attempts to engineer a soft landing for the U.S. economy. Join Professor Greg Brown for a briefing built on the latest employment data and financial market signals, followed by his answers to questions from the audience.
Various experts from the institute will appear in the coming months and offer insights from their areas of specialization. The briefings will occur on the morning that the employment report is released, usually the first Friday of each month.
