Studies in Canada and Denmark show increased pay transparency reduced the gender pay gap, says Kenan Institute Distinguished Fellow Ricardo Perez-Truglia, associate professor of economic analysis and policy at the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business. On the other hand, other studies show that “maybe average salaries are going down because of higher transparency” and that pay transparency “may have negative effects on people’s well-being. And those are other factors that we should take into consideration.”
