The Surprising Complexities of Measuring ESG

Up Next

The Kenan Institute’s deep dive into stakeholder capitalism has exposed shortcomings in a key building block: ESG measurement. In this one-hour virtual session, we convened a cross-sector group of panelists to discuss why ESG measurements matter to businesses large and small. The panelists offered recommendations on scalable implementation, suggested how best to leverage such measures to meet the needs of different stakeholder groups, and provided tips on how to design reporting that is free from political influence and agendas.

Kenan Institute Chief Economist Gerald Cohen moderated the discussion which featured SoftBank Head of External Affairs and Corporate Responsibility Tonya Williams, Nasdaq Asset Owner Solutions COO Sharmila (Shar) Kassam, Chevron Senior Advisor, ESG Management Rachel Bonfante, Corporate Governance and Sustainable Strategies LLC Managing Partner Meredith Miller and KPMG IMPACT Audit Partner, Asset Management Elizabeth C. Ming.
