Making the Cut? September Economic Briefing
CHAPEL HILL, NC (September 3, 2024) – Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell has signaled that an interest rate cut is coming at the Fed’s meeting this month, the first since the beginnings of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.
Kenan Institute Research Fellow Christian Lundblad will preview that meeting, take a look at the morning’s employment numbers, and discuss the importance of economic data in general during the Kenan Institute’s monthly briefing at 9 AM EDT Friday, September 6.
Experts from the institute will appear on the briefing each month and offer commentary in their areas of specialization. Briefings generally occur on the morning that the Bureau of Labor Statistics releases its employment report.
