CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (July 8, 2024) – The Federal Reserve is seeing slowing inflation numbers, but the public is skeptical.

Kenan Institute Chief Economist Gerald Cohen will explain some drivers of this disconnect and the potential effect on consumer spending, as well as examine the latest employment numbers and the general economic outlook, during the institute’s monthly virtual briefing at 9 a.m. EDT Friday, July 12.

Experts from the institute will appear on the briefing each month and offer commentary in their areas of specialization. Briefings generally occur on the morning that the Bureau of Labor Statistics releases its employment report, although this edition will take place a week later because of the July Fourth holiday.

You’re invited to join via Zoom (registration details below) and welcome to submit any questions you would like to be addressed to institute External Affairs Associate Rob Knapp
