With the expiration of COVID-19-era federal childcare subsidies, North Carolina found itself beyond the “childcare cliff.” UNC-Chapel Hill professor and Kenan Institute expert Iheoma U. Iruka will take part in a roundtable discussion on what comes next on PBS NC’s “State Lines” at 8:30 p.m. July 5.
The episode is also available now to view online.
Iruka is a professor in the department of public policy and in the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health’s department of maternal and child health. She has worked with the institute and its centers in the past, including on the 2022 Kenan Insight “The Business Case for Childcare.”
Also on the panel are Candace Witherspoon of the state Department of Health and Human Services and Anna Gassman-Pines of Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy.
